Creating Clipping Planes

Add a Clip Plane

Clip planes are used to clip objects in the View and create for example section Views.

  • There can be up to 8 clip planes at the same time in the view.

  • Clip planes can be placed along an object face or edge line.

  • When creating a clip plane by snapping to an edge line, the clip plane is created in the plane perpendicular to it.

To add a clip plane

  1. Load a model in Trimble Connect for Browser's 3D Viewer.

  2. On the toolbar, click Add Clip Plane.

  3. Place the clip plane along the axis that you want to use to slice the model.

  4. The clip plane icon appears on the clip plane.

Add a Vertical Clip Plane

Vertical clip planes can also be created, which enforce creation of a vertical clip plane.

To add a vertical clip plane

  1. Load a model in Trimble Connect for Browser's 3D Viewer.

  2. On the toolbar, open the Clip Plane Menu by clicking Clip Plane Options next to the Clip Plane tool.

  3. Activate the Vertical Clip Plane tool.

  4. Place the clip plane along the axis that you want to use to slice the model.

  5. The clip plane icon appears on the clip plane.

Clip on a Path

New clip plane feature: when a clip plane is created, it can snap to lines. After snapping, the clip plane follows the geometry of the line when moved. This is convenient for example when working with road models.

To clip on a path

  1. Load a model in Trimble Connect for Browser's 3D Viewer.

  2. On the toolbar, click Add Clip Plane.

  3. Activate the snap to line preference.

  4. Place the clip plane on the line.

  5. The clip plane icon appears on the clip plane.

  6. You can now move the clip plane along the line.
